In Shooting, India added 5 more Gold medals to its tally on Day four of the ISSF Junior World Championship in Lima, Peru. Divanshi bagged a Gold in the women’s 25m pistol. She defeated Italy’s Cristina Magnani by two points in the final with a score of 35. France’s Heloise Fourre was third. It was a double-gold for Divanshi as she combined with India’s Tejaswini and Vibhuti Bhatia, to win the junior women’s 25m pistol team gold ahead of The Czech Republic and Germany.
Ace Shooter Mukesh Nelavalli emerged as another star for India, securing two more gold medals, bringing his total to three in the championship so far. He claimed the junior men’s 25m Pistol gold with a score of 585, finishing two points ahead of fellow Indian Suraj Sharma, who earned India’s first silver of the event. In the team event, Mukesh Nelavalli, Suraj Sharma alongside Pradhyumn Singh, clinched gold, narrowly edging out Poland by three points.
India secured its fifth gold in the junior men’s 50m rifle team event, with Shourya Saini, Vedant Nitin Waghmare, and Parikshit Singh Brar scoring a combined 1753 points.
At the ISSF junior world championship, India is leading the tally with 14 medals including 10 Gold, a Silver and three Bronze. The USA is at the second place, while Italy holds the third spot. The championships which include rifle, pistol, and shotgun events will end on 6th of this month.
