In cricket, West Indies Masters put up a clinical all-round performance to register a six-runs victory over Sri Lanka Masters in the second semifinal of the International Masters League (IML) 2025 in Raipur last night.
The West Indies Masters will take on the Sachin Tendulkar-led India Masters in title clash at the same venue tomorrow.
Put in to bat, the West Indies Masters scored 179 for 5 in the stipulated 20 overs. Wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Ramdin led the Windies with an unbeaten half-century off just 22 balls, while skipper Brian Lara contributed with 41.
In reply, the Sri Lanka Masters scored 171 for 9 in 20 overs, ultimately falling 6 runs short of the Windies’ total. Asela Gunaratne was the lone batter to rise to the occasion, with a stellar 66 off 42 balls. However, his valiant effort went in vain against a disciplined West Indies Masters bowling attack.
Tino Best scalped four wickets for the Windies Masters and was adjudged Player of the Match.
Tomorrow, India Masters, the winners of the first semifinal, will lock horns with the West Indies Masters in the much-anticipated IML 2025 title clash. The match will begin at 7:30 PM.
