Intermittent rain continues in Himachal Pradesh; CM Sukhwinder Singh takes stock of damage caused by heavy rains

In Himachal Pradesh, intermittent rain continued for the fifth day today. However, the relief and rescue work is being done on a war footing in the areas affected by heavy rain and floods.
 
 AIR correspondent reports that so far 25,000 tourists have been safely evacuated from Kullu, while 52 school children stranded at Sissu in Lahaul-Spiti district have also been brought to Manali. Till now more than 6 thousand 5 hundred vehicles have gone towards Chandigarh from Kullu.
 
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu is taking stock of the damage caused by heavy rains and today he conducted an aerial survey of Sissu, Chandratal and Losar areas in Lahaul Spiti.

The Chief Minister said that the situation in Chandratal area is challenging but the State government is ensuring the safety of all the 293 people lodged in various camps there. He said that Atal Tunnel is open for vehicular traffic and more than 300 vehicles have been sent through this tunnel from Gammon Bridge towards Mandi. Apart from this, more than 100 trekkers have also been shifted to safer places in the State.
