Intelligence Bureau Chief Tapan Kumar Deka has been given a one-year extension until June next year. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the extension in service of Mr. Deka as the Director of the Intelligence Bureau. He is a 1988-batch IPS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre.

The tenure of Bharat Lal as Secretary General of the National Human Rights Commission has also been extended for one year beyond June 30th of this year.
