A delegation from India’s National Defence College (NDC) is currently in Sri Lanka as part of the 64th Strategic Neighbourhood Study Tour. The group of senior officers met with key officials and dignitaries, reinforcing the strong defence ties between the two nations.

During their visit, the delegation had a meeting with the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha, discussing matters of mutual interest and cooperation. The officers also paid homage to the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) martyrs, honouring their sacrifice in maintaining peace during the Sri Lankan civil conflict.

Further strengthening bilateral relations, the delegation held discussions with prominent Sri Lankan defence officials, including the Secretary of Defense, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the Commanders of the Navy and Air Force. These meetings underscored the ongoing collaboration between the Indian and Sri Lankan armed forces.

Additionally, the delegation interacted with NDC India alumni residing in Sri Lanka, fostering connections and sharing insights on regional security and strategic affairs.

The delegation will also visit Trincomalee and Galle as part of the visit.

This visit highlights the commitment of both nations to maintaining stability and peace in the South Asian region.
