Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel today said that the country’s medical device sector is a sunrise sector because of its immense growth potential driven by healthcare needs, technological innovations, government support, and emerging market opportunities. Addressing a health summit under the theme Transforming Healthcare for Viksit Bharat 2047 in New Delhi, she said that India is the fourth largest medical devices market in Asia.
The minister added that the government has taken steps to boost exports with the creation of the Export Promotion Council for Medical Devices and the reconstitution of the National Medical Devices Promotion Council. She also informed us that the size of the Indian medical devices sector is estimated to be around 14 billion dollars, and it is expected to grow to 30 billion dollars by 2030.
