India’s longstanding relationship with Egypt has intensified in recent years: EAM Dr S Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has said that India’s longstanding relationship with Egypt has intensified in recent years. Addressing the gathering at the National Day celebrations of Egypt in New Delhi today, Dr Jaishankar said that economic cooperation has been steadily diversified, with both sides seeking new opportunities for mutual benefit. He stated that more than 50 Indian companies have already invested in various sectors of the Egyptian economy, focusing on pharmaceuticals, electronics, and green energy. Dr Jaishankar also highlighted that India’s IT industry has been establishing partnerships that are expected to witness growth in the future. He said that Egypt has also opened up as a market for agro-exports. Dr Jaishankar added that defence collaboration between the two countries has also grown during this period. He mentioned that since 2021, the Air Forces of both countries have held regular exercises, both bilaterally and in larger formats.
