The High Commission of India in Sri Lanka observed the 555th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev on Monday at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in Colombo. On the occasion, Kirtan was performed by Bhai Pardhan Singh and Bhai Princepal Singh. High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Santosh Jha said that the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev on kindness, compassion and principles of a caste-less society are relevant even today.
Sri Lanka was one of the countries visited by Guru Nanak Dev during one of his four udaasis or tours during which he is believed to have visited Batticaloa.
