Indian Railways is operating around 22 festival special trains today originating from Delhi-NCR to various parts of the country. These include special trains to Saharsa, Jaynagar, Patna, Muzaffarpur, Gorakhpur, Darbhanga, Secundrabad and Malda Town.
According to the Railways, 145 extra special trains are being operated from 2nd to 8th of this month to ensure smooth travel during Chhath pooja. The Railway is facilitating the movement of an additional two lakh passengers daily, ensuring seamless travel for millions of devotees during the festive season.
Indian Railways is operating around seven thousand special trains in view of the festive season to accommodate the significant surge in passenger traffic from 1st of last month to 30th of this month.
The Railway is set to carry more than one crore passengers during the festive period. This year there has been a notable increase of two thousand 800 special trains compared to the previous year. Last year, around four thousand 500 special trains operated during this season.
