In view of the Chhath festival, the Railways is operating special trains for the convenience and smooth travel of passengers. Today, 185 special trains are being operated by the railways to meet the rush, and around 25 festival special trains are originating from Delhi-NCR to various parts of the country. These include special trains to Saharsa, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Lucknow, Patna, Muzaffarpur, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Darbhanga, Indore, and Thiruvananthapuram. Talking to Akashvani News, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway, Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, said that the railway is operating special festival trains in addition to regular trains.
He added that demand-based trains are also being operated to facilitate smooth travel for passengers going to celebrate the Chhath festival. Chairman of Railway Board Satish Kumar also visited the New Delhi railway station last night to take stock of all arrangements and facilities being provided to passengers. The Railways is facilitating the movement of an additional two lakh passengers daily, ensuring seamless travel for millions of devotees during these festive occasions. Special arrangements have also been made for the convenience of passengers at major railway stations so that they do not face any inconvenience in boarding the trains. Indian Railways is operating around 7,000 special trains in view of the festive season to accommodate the significant surge in passenger traffic from the 1st of last month to the 30th of this month. The Railways is set to carry more than one crore passengers during the festive period.
