The Indian Navy’s state-of-the-art hydrographic vessel INS Nirdeshak was commissioned at the naval dockyard in Visakhapatnam today. Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth said the Indian Navy is utilising technology to create the best survey vessel as part of Atmanirbhar Bharat. He said significant improvements have been made in the defence industry since the NDA Alliance came to power.
INS Nirdeshak, the second ship of the Survey Vessel Project, is designed to conduct hydrographic surveys, navigation aid, and support maritime operations. This vessel with over 80 percent indigenous content will play a pivotal role in mapping the nation’s waters and strengthening India’s strategic presence in the Indian Ocean Region.
