Indian Navy reaffirms commitment to environmental stewardship on World Environment Day

Indian Navy has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship, aligning with the global theme of Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience on World Environment Day yesterday.

Embracing green initiatives, the Indian Navy has undertaken significant measures to promote renewable energy and sustainable practices.

Through projects like tree and mangrove planting under the MISHTI Programme, seaweed cultivation, and coral reef surveys, the India Navy continues to collaborate with government bodies and eco-conscious firms.

The Navy’s partnership with HCL Foundation and The Habitats Trust focuses on coastal ecosystem rejuvenation and marine species conservation.

In support of the Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) initiative, efforts include solar energy adoption, e-vehicle promotion, water conservation, and GRIHA III compliance for new buildings.

The Puneet Sagar Abhiyaan campaign highlights coastal cleanups, emphasizing plastic waste management.

Innovative technologies like hydrogen aspiration and diesel emission reduction devices are also being trialed, cementing Indian Navy’s role as a “Blue Water Force with a Green Footprint.”
