Indian benchmark indices ended on a positive note with Nifty above 22,100. Amid mixed global cues, the market opened on a positive note and extended gains as the day progressed.

At close, the Sensex was up 526 points or 0.73 per cent at 72,996, and the Nifty climbed 119 points or 0.54 per cent at 22,123. In the Broader market at the BSE, the Mid-Cap index gained marginally by 0.01 per cent and the Small-cap index jumped 0.70 per cent.

In the Sensex Index, which is a pack of 30 companies, shares of 19 companies appreciated while 11 companies declined. Reliance climbed by 3.6 per cent, MARUTI gained 2.4 per cent and BAJAJ Finance appreciated by 1.63 per cent. On the other hand, Wipro fell 1.57 per cent, HCL Tech. and TCS declined by 1.02 per cent. In sectoral indices at the BSE, 14 sectors logged gains while 06 fell. The services index jumped 1.01 per cent, the Capital goods index rose 1 per cent and Realty gained 0.98 per cent. However, IT was down by 0.48 per cent.
