Indian Army at Ramsar conducts preliminary camp for Artificial Limb Replacement

A preliminary camp for Artificial Limb Replacement was conducted by the Indian Army at Ramsar (Barmer), the border areas of Rajasthan in which 207 persons were screened. The measurements for prosthesis were taken and the artificial limbs will be fabricated and provided to these needy specially-abled individuals. The requirements of wheelchairs, blind sticks, and crutches were also taken for provisioning.

The Indian Army collaborated with Kiwanis Club of New Delhi, a non profit charitable organisation for this noble initiative. As part of Phase-I, high-quality and comfortable artificial limbs will be customised to the individual need of every patient free of cost. This will help the individuals towards a normal life, which is otherwise extremely difficult considering the remoteness of these far flung areas in the Thar Desert and the infrastructure that is available there. In Phase-II, distribution and fitment of the limbs will be carried out within approximately two months. The initiative has been very well appreciated and lauded by the local populace.
