In women’s cricket, India will take on New Zealand in the second One-Day International of the three-match series in Ahmedabad this afternoon. The match will begin at 1:30 PM IST.
In the series opener on Thursday, the Women in Blue defeated the recently crowned World T20 Champions New Zealand by 59 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Deepti Sharma’s all-round performance with 41 runs and a wicket, while Radha Yadav’s excellent figures of 3 for 35 led India to victory in the first ODI. Debutant Tejal Hasabnis also made a vital contribution with the bat in the match.
Stand-in captain Smriti Mandhana was leading the Indian women’s team in the first ODI, as regular skipper Harmanpreet Kaur had a minor injury and had been rested.
