India will be more competitive in international market for export, says Union Minister Nitin Gadkari

Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has expressed confidence that before the end of this year, the logistics cost will come down to nine per cent from 40 per cent currently and India will be more competitive in the international market for export. He was addressing an event organised by a media house in New Delhi today. 

Talking about road safety, Mr Gadkari said, the Government is taking all preventive measures of international standards from signage to marking. Terming the situation as alarming, the Minister said India stands at the number one position in road accidents in the world. He added that the Government is educating people especially youth and children on road safety.

Talking about infrastructure, Mr Gadkari said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has prioritised Water, Power, Transport, and Communication, hence, there has been a focus on building robust infrastructure. He shared the Government's expressway, National Highway, and tunnel projects for seamless interstate connectivity. The Minister said, that before the end of 2024, India's National Highway road infrastructure will be equal to the USA standard.
