In the series opener on Friday, India had defeated the hosts by 61 runs. South Africa failed to chase down the target set by India. After being asked to bat first, India posted a total of 202 for 8 in their 20 overs. In response, South Africa was restricted to just 141 runs. Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson scored his second consecutive T20 century, becoming the first Indian to achieve the feat. While the spin duo of Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi took three wickets each, effectively dismantling the Protean batting line-up.
Samson was adjudged the Player of the Match. The third match of the series will be played on Wednesday in Centurion, and the fourth match will be on Friday in Johannesburg. Suryakumar Yadav is leading the Men in Blue, while Aiden Markram is captaining the hosts, South Africa.
