India to take on issues of climate financing and funds for developing countries to achieve sustainable development goal at G20 meeting: EAM Dr. S Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar exhorted to push for climate financing issue in the coming G-20 meeting to iron out anomalies in which many developed countries failed to keep their pledge.  In an exclusive interview with Akashvani, the Minister said, beside climate financing, many developing countries fail to achieve sustainable development goal due to lack of funds. India will put forward these points in the coming G-20 meeting, added Dr Jaishankar. 

He asserted that the India is working with the world with more assertive and national interest-driven approach. The Minister said, the country's interests were often sacrificed because of some ideological reasons. He said, it was an era where our capabilities were limited and also where we did not always put our national interest first. Sometimes, we did not get the gains that we could have, he added. But that is in the past,” the Minister said. He emphasised that the Narendra Modi government always work with the world while putting the country's interests at its core.
 
Dr. Jaishankar acknowledged the historical significance of non-alignment, describing it as a manifestation of India's assertion of Independence during a time when its capabilities were limited. He unerscored the shift from the non-alignment era to a more assertive and national interest-driven approach in the present globalised landscape.
 
The Minister also mentioned that delegitimising terrorism is the central point of India’s foreign policy now. The Minister said that the world is now seeing that India has zero tolerance for terrorism.
