India take on hosts Sri Lanka in rain-curtailied ODI, restricting Sri Lanka to 76/4 in 19 overs

In Women’s Cricket, India takes on hosts Sri Lanka in the first ODI match of the tri-series tournament being played at Colombo. In a rain-curtailed game restricted to 39 overs a side, Indian bowlers showed discipline as they ran through the Sri Lankan top order. Put into bat, Sri Lanka were 76 for four in 19 overs when reports last came in. Sri Lankan batters struggled to score freely, giving only 37 runs in the power-play, losing the crucial wicket of captain Chamari Athapaththu. Opener Hasini Perera steadied the innings for a while before falling LBW to Sneh Rana for 30, while Harshitha Samarawickrama and Hansima Karunaratne fell cheaply.
