India Scottish parliament should complement each other’s experiences in use of AI: LS Speaker Om Birla

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today emphasized that the Indian and Scottish Parliaments need to learn from their experiences in the use of Artificial Intelligence. Mr Birla shared these remarks at a meeting with the First Minister of Scotland, John Swinney, as part of his visit to England, Scotland, and Guernsey. The Lok Sabha Secretariat mentioned in a release that both leaders discussed the shared democratic values and cooperation between the two nations. They also discussed cooperation in green energy, IT, AI, and other sectors. During his visit, Mr. Birla met the Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament, Alison Johnstone, as well. Several issues of mutual interest, including enhancing parliamentary cooperation between the Parliaments of both nations, were discussed between them. The Speaker also discussed gender equality in parliamentary institutions and informed Mrs Johnstone about India’s Nari Shakti Vandan Act to ensure enhanced representation of women in the democratic process and promote women-led development. Mr. Birla also interacted with members of the Scottish Parliament from various parties.
