India-Saudi Arabia sign MoU in several areas including energy, digitalization, and investment

India and Saudi Arabia have signed eight agreements in several areas including energy, digitalization, and investment. Briefing media in New Delhi on the State visit of the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Secretary (CPV and OIA) Ausaf Sayeed said the Crown Prince congratulated India for a very successful G20 meeting with a lot of major outcomes in the meeting. He said the two sides expressed their happiness at the launching of the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor. The Prime Minister also congratulated the Kingdom on becoming a full member of the BRICS.

Mr Sayeed said both sides extended their full support to the early implementation of the west coast refinery projects. He said India and Saudi Arabia have also agreed to expedite the India-GCC Free Trade Agreement negotiations which they felt would act as a catalyst for further strengthening economic cooperation between the two sides. He said that one of the primary reasons why there was a delay was that there was a change in the chief negotiators, and now the chief negotiator of the GCC has been appointed. He expressed confidence that the negotiations would be brought back on track since there is a keenness on both sides to complete these negotiations as early as possible.

India and Saudi Arabia also agreed to strengthen cooperation in the FinTech field and explore trading in the local currencies.
