Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal has said that India is committed to ensuring Africa’s food availability through the supply of essential commodities such as rice. Addressing the valedictory session of the CII India Africa Business Conclave in New Delhi today, Mr. Barthwal said Indian pharmaceutical companies are key in advancing Africa’s healthcare. He said Indian telemedicine services can support countries around the world, with Africa being a major partner.

Secretary (Economic Relations) in Ministry of External Affairs Dammu Ravi said Indian companies are pioneering value creation across various infrastructure projects in Africa, including roads, railways, and power projects, among others. He stressed the need to encourage greater public-private partnerships with effective planning and implementation for enhancing collaborative efforts and driving mutual growth.

Vice President of Burundi, Prosper Bazombanza, said economic partnerships are key to Burundi’s growth. Vice President of Liberia Jeremiah Kpan Koung invited India to discuss partnerships and invest in the agricultural industry. Vice President of Mauritius Marie Cyril Eddy Boissézon said the India-Africa Conclave, like previous editions, has been a giant leap for the India-Africa relationship. Vice President of Zimbabwe Dr. C.G.D.N. Chiwenga said the goal is to create robust development plans that will benefit sectors including renewable energy, agriculture, mining, space technology, transportation, logistics, and healthcare, among others.

Vice President of Gambia Muhammad B.S. Jallow said India’s dedication to advancing innovation and entrepreneurship in Gambia is truly inspiring. He added that India stands out as a key partner in driving sustainable development across Africa.
