India Proving Scientific Prowess Globally with Space and Healthcare Advances: Minister Jitendra Singh

Science and Technology Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh today highlighted that the country has succeeded in proving its capabilities to the world through missions like Chandrayaan 3, the solar mission, and the recent Space Docking Experiment mission (SpaDeX). The minister said this while addressing the gathering on the occasion of National Science Day 2025 in New Delhi. The theme of the day is Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat.

Dr. Singh highlighted that the theme addresses youth empowerment, their capacity building, and enabling them for global roles.

Citing the examples of the India-EU meeting, the minister asserted that now the world is acknowledging the efforts of India in the field of science and technology. He added that earlier, the country was not recognised globally for its therapeutic and accurate healthcare but is now being considered as a leader of preventive healthcare.

He also highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal in his Mann Ki Baat Programme to celebrate the National Science Day with the same enthusiasm as any other festival. Dr. Singh also revealed that in last year’s survey featuring the top two percent of scientists in the world, more than five thousand three hundred scientists were Indians.
