External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar today said, the Government aims to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to make India a leader in democratising technology, a trusted geography, and an important part of global supply chains. He said, there is growing interest among partners and business leaders to be part of India’s growth story. Sharing his statement on Twitter, the Minister said he had sought to apprise Parliament and the people of India of some important developments pertaining to Foreign policy. He termed it as sad that the Opposition repeatedly disrupted his statement in both Houses of Parliament.
Dr. Jaishankar expressed happiness that India is now seen as a credible and effective development partner. He added that India's development partnership portfolio now spans 78 countries. He added that the hallmark of these projects is that they are demand-driven, transparent, empowerment-oriented, environment-friendly, and rely on a consultative approach. He informed that India has also been spearheading the promotion of Digital Public Infrastructure and sharing best practices in digital governance especially in the Global South.
The Minister stated that India is today a First Responder to disaster situations and a provider of relief and assistance to many in distress. He said this was evident during the earthquake in Turkiye. He added that it is also in evidence in other regions, be it a cyclone in Myanmar, fighting in Sudan, food shortages in Afghanistan, or health demands in Africa.
