India is leading the world in tackling the issues like global warming, terrorism, and narco-terrorism: HM Amit Shah

Home Minister Amit Shah says India has maintained its relevancy in the world in the past nine years and has emerged as a world leader. Speaking at the valedictory session of International Lawyers' Conference in Delhi on Sunday, Mr. Shah said India is leading the world in tackling issues like global warming, terrorism and narco-terrorism, and has become the fifth largest economy.

Mr Shah said the technical sessions held during the two-day conference were very relevant and necessary for a rapidly growing country like India. The conference was held at a very opportune time, especially in the backdrop of the recently held G20 summit. He said Parliament is going to transform the three main laws of the Criminal Justice System. Mr Shah highlighted that Narendra Modi government has brought many reforms including arbitration law, mediation law and Jan Vishwas Bill. He said these laws will reduce the burden on the judiciary.

The Home Minister gave away the Vidhi Ratna Award to five legal luminaries. They include K Parasaran, Fali S Nariman, and KK Venugopal. Ram Jethmalani and Soli S Sorabjee were given the award posthumously.
