Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has said that India is determined to further strengthen and broaden its strategic partnership with Mongolia. Mr Birla who is leading an Indian Parliamentary Delegation to Mongolia, called on President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh at Ulan Bator. He highlighted that the shared glorious heritage of Buddhism underpins the ties between the two countries. He recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s State Visit to Mongolia in the year 2015 greatly strengthened bilateral relations. Terming India as a dependable partner in the economic development of Mongolia, he mentioned that the Oil Refinery Project in Mongolia is the largest project undertaken by India abroad.
During the day, the Lok Sabha Speaker also met the Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai.
Earlier, during his bilateral meeting with the Speaker of the State Great Khural (Parliament of Mongolia) Gombojavyn Zandanshatar, Lok Sabha Speaker recalled the long and healthy tradition of cooperation and exchange of parliamentary delegations between the two countries. He also visited the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia and witnessed the proceedings of the House. The Lok Sabha Speaker also visited the Headquarters of Mongolian Oil Refinery which is being built with India’s assistance and is vital to Mongolia's energy security.
On 6th July 2023, Thursday, Lok Sabha Speaker addressed the members of the Indian Diaspora in Mongolia.
