Union Minister of State for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar has said that India has come forward to help other countries in creating Digital Public Infrastructure for transformation into a digital economy. Addressing media persons in Bengaluru today, he informed that eight countries have signed an MoU with India seeking assistance in Digital Public Infrastructure.
Saying that India has made big strides in creating digital economy infrastructure, he informed that before 2014 the digital infrastructure was just 4.5 percent of the total GDP and today it has reached 11 percent and the Prime Minister has set a target to increase the digital economy share to 20 percent by 2026. He said India wants to share its knowledge with other countries in the area of Cyber safety and security and digital skilling.
He also added that the Government imparts the highest importance to private data protection and has also tabled a bill in this regard. Earlier speaking after inaugurating the Digital Innovation Alliance organised on the sidelines of G20 Digital Economy Working Group and Ministerial meeting today, the minister said that India today has over one lakh startups and over 100 Unicorns and it will be a decade of India Techade in the areas of innovation and technology.
