Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal today said that India has changed dramatically in last nine years to become the fifth largest economy from a ‘fragile-five’ economy. Virtually addressing the second Technology Conference for Growth of Plastic Industry today, the Union Commerce Minister said that India is on track to become the third largest economy is the world.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that for the first time, the country has witnessed a decade of low inflation. He said the average rate of inflation in the last nine years is around 4.5 percent.
Speaking about the Plastic industry, the Commerce Minister said that the industry brings hope, pride and self-reliance (Aatma Nirbharta). Expressing his happiness about the domestic plastic sector doing well, he said that the industry has tremendous growth potential.
The second Technology Conference for Growth of Plastic Industry is organized in Mumbai by All India Plastics Manufacturers Association (AIPMA). The conference aims to promote import substitution of plastic goods and support the government's Make in India initiative.
