India-EU Hold 8th Cyber Dialogue in New Delhi, Discuss Cybersecurity & 6G Cooperation

The Eighth India-EU Cyber Dialogue was held in New Delhi yesterday. The Indian Delegation was led by Joint Secretary, Cyber Diplomacy Division, Ministry of External Affairs Amit Shukla, while the EU delegation was led by co-chairs Director for Security and Defence Policy at the European External Action Service Maciej Stadejek and Director-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology Ms Christiane Kirketerp de Viron.

 

The Indian delegation included officials from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Telecom, CERT-In and the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre, while the EU side included representatives from the European External Action Service and the EU Delegation to India. During the dialogue, both sides reviewed the cyber threat landscape and exchanged views on recent developments in cyber policies, security standards and protection of critical information infrastructure as well as cooperation in multilateral fora on the security of ICTs. Both sides also discussed cooperation on standardisation of 6G, security standards for telecom equipment and joint capacity-building activities.

 

Cybersecurity cooperation was an important element, as stated in the Joint Statement issued during the visit of the President of the European Commission and the EU College of Commissioners to India last month. The 8th India-EU Cyber Dialogue took forward the discussions held in the field of cyber and digital technologies during the visit of the President of the European Commission and EU College of Commissioners to India last month.
