Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup: India Beat Afghanistan By 47 Runs In Barbados In Their First Game Of Super Eight Stage

India secured a convincing 47-run victory over Afghanistan in the T20 World Cup Super Eight match held at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, India posted a challenging total of 181 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav was the standout performer for India, smashing 53 runs off just 28 balls. Rashid Khan from Afghanistan took three wickets.

 

In response, Afghanistan faced a tough challenge and managed to score 134 runs, falling short of India’s target. Azmatullah Omarzai was the top scorer for Afghanistan with 26 runs. Jasprit Bumrah was exceptional for India, taking three crucial wickets.

 

Earlier in the tournament, India remained unbeaten in the group stage and chose to bat first in today’s match against Afghanistan. The victory has placed India in a strong position as they continue their campaign in the Super Eight stage.

 

Meanwhile, in another match today, England defeated West Indies by eight wickets in the Super Eight opener at St Lucia, showcasing their dominance in the tournament.

 

Looking ahead, two more exciting matches are scheduled for today in the Super Eight round: Australia will face Bangladesh at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua at 6 am IST, followed by England taking on South Africa at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia at 8 pm IST.
