The Indian deaf cricket team achieved a dominant 5-0 clean sweep against Sri Lanka in the bilateral ODI Deaf Cricket Series, held from December 2 to 8 in Delhi. The final match ended with a thrilling 13-run victory for India.
India set a target of 289 runs, getting bowled out in 49.5 overs. Sri Lanka fought hard but fell short, managing 276 runs in 48.4 overs.
Captain Virendra Singh led the Indian team, with Santosh Kumar Mahopatra shining as the best batter of the series, scoring 325 runs at an average of 65, including a century and two half-centuries. Sai Akash was named Man of the Match for his stellar performance in the final game.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka’s Alanrose Kalep, the series’ top wicket-taker with 12 dismissals, was awarded Man of the Series. The Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA) hosted the series, highlighting the talent of hearing-impaired players and promoting inclusivity in the sport.
