India and China exchanged views on ways to achieve complete disengagement and resolve the remaining issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Western Sector of India-China border areas. The External Affairs Ministry today said that the 29th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) was held in Beijing yesterday. It said, during the meeting, both sides had an indepth discussion on disengagement along the LAC and agreed to maintain regular contact through diplomatic and military channels. The two sides also exchanged views on the need to uphold peace and tranquility on the ground in the border areas in accordance with existing bilateral agreements and protocols.
The Indian delegation was led by the Joint Secretary of East Asia from the Ministry of External Affairs and the Chinese delegation was led by the Director-General of the Boundary and Oceanic Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
