In Punjab, the e-trading of agricultural produce worth 10,000 Crore rupees has been transacted through 79 Mandis of the State linked with the portal of the electronic National Agriculture Market (e-NAM). State Finance, Excise, and Taxation Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated this while addressing the conference titled ‘To Nurture the e-NAM platform of Punjab'.
It was organised by the Punjab Mandi Board in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI). The E-market is a round-the-clock open platform and farmers of the State are taking full advantage of it.
In this agricultural State, farmers are being encouraged towards the electronic National Agriculture Market Scheme E-NAM. Presently 2,17,426 farmers, 8,703 Commission Agents, and 2,423 Traders have been registered with e-NAM. About 28.10 Lakh Ton of agriculture commodities trade has been done which includes Potato, Basmati, Maize, Kinnow, Cotton, Green Peas, Lychee, and Sunflower. The government plans to add 15 more Agriculture Produce Market Committees APMCs to the e-NAM portal by the end of this year.
