Bangladesh is grappling with a mosquito borne dengue outbreak, at least 129 people died of dengue fever in July only, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.

The hospitalisation and death trend in the ongoing dengue endemic is the worst in 23 years, according to available data and entomologists.

This year dengue has killed 176 people and forced 32,977 to admit to health facilities across Bangladesh.

Despite the government's visible preventive measures, the numbers of cases and fatalities from dengue fever are rising day by day.

According to health experts, the dengue situation might worsen in the coming months of August and September.
