India Meteorological Department has issued Red alert for heatwave in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand.
In Bihar, the Red Alert has been issued for the next two days while in Jharkhand it will be for the next three days and in Uttar Pradesh it is for the next three to four days.
Speaking to media, Senior IMD Scientist Soma Sen informed that there will be heatwave alert in other areas of North India including Punjab, Haryana, north Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and in some parts of West Bengal.
IMD said that weather conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and northwest Bay of Bengal during next 2-3 days.
IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Northeast India during next 4 to 5 days. Delhi recorded 44.7 degree celsius maximum temperature yesterday.
