IMD predicts heavy rains in some districts of Punjab

In Punjab, the Patiala and Mohali district authorities have taken help from the Indian army to evacuate people from the flood water in some areas of these districts. The water of river Satluj entered the parking area of the police academy situated in Phillaur in Jalandhar district. Though the weather in most parts of the state is dry and cloudy today, the met department has predicted heavy to heavy rains in some districts.  

The state Chief Secretary Anurag Verma held a meeting with state officials in Chandigarh and took stock of the situation arising after heavy rain.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has appealed to people to remain calm and not panic. Government officials are reaching the nook and corner of the state to help people in this adverse situation, he added further.
