The IMD has predicted widespread rainfall across Gujarat over the next seven days. The Weather Department has issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in coastal districts such as Amreli, Bhavnagar, Surat, and Bharuch over the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, heavy rains have lashed several parts of the state today, leading to waterlogging in low-lying areas. Following the incessant rains, road traffic has been affected in several districts. The highest recorded rainfall of nine inches was at Umarpada in Surat district. Besides Surat, heavy rains were also recorded in Valsad, Narmada, Banaskantha, Mahesana, and Gandhinagar districts. According to the official release, more than 100 tehsils in the state received light to heavy rainfall.
