India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heatwave conditions over northwest India and Bihar for the next five days.
Severe Heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail in some parts of West Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi till 20th of May. East and central India are also likely to witness heatwave conditions from the 18th of this month.
The weather department forecasts rainfall accompanied by isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over southern parts of India till 22nd of May. The IMD said, isolated very heavy rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe and South Interior Karnataka for the next few days. Isolated heavy rainfall is also very likely over Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya till 20th of this month. The IMD said, southwest monsoon is very likely to advance into south Andaman sea and some parts of Southeast Bay of Bengal and Nicobar Islands within the next three days.
The weather agency also forecasts gradual rise in maximum temperatures of about 2-4 degrees Celsius over many parts of Northwest, Central, East India, Maharashtra and Gujarat state for the next 3-4 days with no significant change thereafter.
