IMD Issues Red Warning for Heat Wave in Multiple States, Heavy Rainfall Expected in Northeast and West India

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a red warning over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam and West Bengal today due to the rampant heat wave. The IMD said that heat wave to severe heat wave conditions will prevail over parts of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal today, and over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan till tomorrow. The weather agency added that no significant change in maximum temperatures is expected over the rest of the country.

 
Meanwhile, heavy to very heavy rainfall will descend over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next 4 days. In West India, the IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning likely over Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra during the next 4 days. In South India, similar conditions will prevail over Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Lakshadweep during the next 4 days.
