Cyclone Fengal weakens into a deep depression; IMD issues red alert for extremely heavy rainfall for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra

India Meteorological Department, IMD issued red alert for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and South Andhra Pradesh on Sunday due to the impact of Cyclonic Storm Fengal. Met department has also issued red alert for Kerela and Puducherry tomorrow as extremely heavy rainfall may occur. Very heavy rainfall is also likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and South Interior Karnataka on Monday.

       

The Cyclonic Storm over north coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry has weakened into a deep depression. It is likely to move westwards very slowly and weaken gradually into a depression over north Tamil Nadu during the next 12 hours.

       

Light to moderate rainfall has been forecast at many places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over interior Tamil Nadu tomorrow. Coastal Karnataka is ikely to witness light to moderate rainfall at many places with heavy rainfall at isolated places tomorrow and the day after.

       

Very Rough to Rough Sea conditions are likely to prevail over southwest Bay of Bengal, along and off North Tamil Nadu-Puducherry and South Andhra Pradesh coasts till midnight tonight.
