The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Mumbai and its adjoining areas until tomorrow. All schools, colleges, and educational institutions in the city were closed due to severe rain.
Akashvani correspondent reports that after more than a week of continuous rainfall, Mumbai is experiencing another bout of extremely heavy rain. Incessant rains have caused inundation in low-lying areas. Waterlogging was also witnessed around railway tracks near Marine Lines Station in south Mumbai. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation operated pumps to drain out water at several places. Trains on suburban lines were running with a slight delay. Road traffic was slowed down in some parts of the city. The weather department has urged residents to exercise caution. The Department has issued an alert for fishermen, asking them to avoid fishing in marked areas.
