In Punjab, there has not been enough rainfall in various parts during the current monsoon season so far, due to which people are facing humid and scorching heat. However, the Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall for today and tomorrow and also issued orange and yellow alerts.
Akashvani’s Correspondent Reports, in the current monsoon season, this time about 44 percent less rainfall has been recorded so far in the state than the average rainfall of 118.5 millimetres. The Malwa region has received only 37 millimetres of rainfall, which is about 74 percent less than the average rainfall. Fatehgarh Sahib district recorded 75 percent while Mohali received 71, Firozpur 70, Moga 63 and Faridkot district received 57 percent less rainfall than normal. The effect of this less rainfall in the state is also being seen on various dams where the water level is lower than average.
