India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert and red warning over North-West, North and East India tomorrow due to the ongoing heatwave conditions. The IMD said that heatwave to severe heatwave conditions will prevail over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Odisha for the next two days. Talking to Akashvani, IMD Scientist Dr RK Jenamani said that the average temperature is expected to rise by 5 to 6 degrees Celsius over these regions in the upcoming days.
Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over North-East India and West Bengal during the next 7 days. The weather agency added that light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds up to 50 kilometres per hour will prevail over Goa and Maharashtra during the next 5 days. Similar weather conditions will continue over Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the next 5 days.
