In Kerala, the IMD has issued Orange alert in the districts of Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod indicating the possibility of isolated very heavy rainfall. In its latest forecast, the Met Department indicated the possibility of heavy rain in all other districts in the state, except Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta.
 
In Kannur, a 78-year-old woman was drowned, when she fell into a canal this morning. Her body was recovered later.
 
Heavy rains were reported in the Kasargod district since this morning.
 
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
