In Kerala, the IMD has issued orange alert in seven districts of the state, indicating isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall. Orange alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. Many places in the state received heavy rainfall since last night. Landslides and widespread damages were reported in some places in the state. In Kollam, several houses were damaged following the uprooting of trees and electric poles. The shutters of Malankara, Pambla, Kallarkutty and Poringalkuthu dams have been opened due to heavy rains in the catchment areas.
