Severe heat wave conditions are being observed over many parts of North India including Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. Similar conditions are also prevailing over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Gujarat. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heat wave in the region for the next four days.
Talking to Akashvani News, Senior IMD Scientist RK Jenamani said that the temperature for Delhi continues to soar high with 44.6 degrees being recorded in Mangeshpur and Pitampura. While Najafgarh recorded over 43 degrees Celsius. However, Safdarjang and Palam station recorded 41.5 and 42.4 respectively which is comparatively low. He said that the red alert would continue in the national capital till the 25th of this month.
IMD further said that conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon over some parts of the Southeast Arabian Sea, Maldives, Comorin area and South Bay of Bengal and some more parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the next 2 days. The Weather office informed that heavy rainfall is very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe and Karnataka during the next two to three days.
