India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the ongoing rainfall, along with moderate thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and hail will continue to persist over Northwest India for the next 24 hours and abate thereafter. It said that light to moderate rainfall with moderate thunderstorms, lightning, and winds gusting up to 40 kilometers per hour is expected over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand today. Whereas, West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh are expected to witness scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds up to 40 kilometers per hour today. Isolated hailstorms are also very likely over Jammu Division, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand during this period. The weather department further forecasts that strong surface winds reaching up to 40 kilometers per hour will prevail over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh from tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the IMD said that Delhi will witness a generally cloudy sky with light rain today. The maximum temperature in the national capital is likely to hover around 33 degrees Celsius during the day hours today.
