The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast intense thunderstorm activity to continue over parts of East and Central India during the next 2 days. According to the IMD, heavy rainfall will likely descend over parts of Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and North Odisha today.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds will prevail over East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha today and tomorrow. These conditions will also be present over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next 5 days.
Over South India, similar conditions will continue over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Interior Karnataka during the next 5 days. Heavy rainfall is expected over extreme southern Tamil Nadu and Kerala today. Meanwhile, hot and humid weather conditions are expected to prevail over parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and over Konkan, Goa and coastal Gujarat tomorrow. According to the weather agency, maximum temperatures are expected to gradually fall by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius over East India during the next 3 days.
