IMD forecasts heavy to very heavy rainfall along foothills of Himalayas and over Northeast of country

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand, north Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next five days. The Department further informed that a cyclonic circulation lies over south Bihar at lower tropospheric levels, which will increase the rainfall activities. IMD put North-Eastern States on an orange alert and said that widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur during the next five days. In its weather Bulletin, the IMD said subdued rainfall activity is likely over central and Peninsular India during the next 4-5 days.
