In Bihar, several parts are witnessing heavy rainfall from the last 24 hours. The Met Department has issued yellow alert for heavy rainfall in Western and South-Central parts in the state including Patna, Siwan, Gopalganj, Saran, Saharsa, Madhepura, Katihar, Bhagalpur and Nawada districts for the next 24 hours.

Alerts has been sounded for lightning and thunderstorms in these areas and people have advised to not to go outside or work in fields during the rain.

Due to continuous torrential rainfall in the Terai region of Nepal and catchment areas of prominent rivers, a flood-like situation has emerged in several districts.

Akashvcani correspondent reports, due to heavy discharge of water from Valmiki Nagar Gandak and Birpur Koshi barrage several areas in West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj and Supaul districts have been submerged.

Flood waters have entered in Valmiki Nagar Tiger Reserve also. A large number of people from low-lying area have taken shelter at safer places.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar undertaken aerial survey of regions affected by flood of Gandak and other rivers. He asked officials to provide all possible relief to flood-affected victims.

The weather has improved in Mumbai today, a day after normal life was disrupted due to heavy rains. According to latest updates, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has withdrawn its red alert warning for the city and its suburbs.

Trains on both Central and Western lines are running normally. Traffic has been affected due to water logging in low lying areas.

The administration has ordered that schools and colleges in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Alibaug and Panvel remain closed today.  

Meanwhile, Monsoon has slowed down a bit in Himachal Pradesh during the last 24 hours. Most places in the state are cloudy today. However, the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain in the next two days.

According to the department, there are chances of heavy rain in some areas of the state after 10th July and a yellow alert has been issued regarding this.

Due to rain, so far 42 roads in the state have been blocked for traffic due to landslides.

Apart from this, electricity and drinking water supply have been affected due to the non-functioning of 121 transformers and 48 drinking water schemes.
